Give Dad a Cog Ride to Remember for Father's Day
MT. WASHINGTON, NH (May 24, 2012) - Whether he's a new dad, a granddad, or that special man in your life, The Mount Washington Cog Railway has a coach-load of new features to help you celebrate Father's Day this year.
Thanks to The Cog's innovative biodiesel engine technology, rail fans have a variety of departure times for the three-hour round trip. The ride features a lively audio tour of The Cog's fascinating history and points of interest seen along the route. Emmy Award-winning TV host Fritz Wetherbee narrates the story and alerts you to the ascent's natural wonders.
The new technology and schedule means visitors have the opportunity to spend an awe-inspiring hour on top of the tallest peak in the Northeast. Take treasured photos, savor the experience of being above treeline in this unique climate, and enjoy the modern facilities at the Summit Building. Your ticket includes free admission to the Observatory Museum - where the summit's history and its spectacular weather occurrences are exhibited.
Want to truly surprise Dad on Father's Day? Give him a membership in The Cogger Club. This unique affiliation includes unlimited rides for two years and one unforgettable trip with the engineer in the cab of one of The Cog's new biodiesel locomotives. Membership is $149. Ask about the Club's family-and-friends plan. Old Peppersass, The Cog Railway's original steam engine built in 1866, sits proudly at Marshfield Base Station where you will find a restaurant and gift shop. Be sure to visit the Cog Railway Museum in the lower level, which is full of memorabilia and the rich history of this pioneering mountain railroad. Admission here is free.
Steam engine buffs and nostalgia enthusiasts can book the 8:30am run and be the first to climb Mount Washington in the morning, and there are special discounts for those who reserve seats for the last train of the day.
Visit thecog.com for more information and to purchase tickets in advance (recommended). Gift certificates available. The Mount Washington Cog Railway is located approximately six miles from Route 302 & Bretton Woods on Base Station Road in Marshfield Station, NH. 603-278-5404
