Services for Guests with Disabilities
By THE COG RAILWAY
The Mount Washington Cog Railway prides itself on being a wonderful and fun experience available to all types of people. Below is a overview of our services offered to guests with disabilities. If any other assistance is requested, or more information is needed, please do not hesitate to e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 603-278-2259.
Our coaches are historic in design, with narrow door openings. However, every effort is made to accommodate special needs. We can transport foldable wheelchairs to the summit of Mount Washington, along with providing ones of our own, guests are required to transfer from their wheelchair – by themselves or with assistance from their party – to a coach seat on the Mount Washington Cog Railway. We do offer seats available towards the front of the coaches based on a space availability basis by calling 603-278-2259 ahead of time.
The Mount Washington Cog Railway is a approximated three hour narrated journey up and down Mount Washington. We offer a printed script and other written materials for our guests. Video and information in the Cog Railway Museum is captioned when necessary. Please visit the Ticket Office for printed materials.
For guests with visual disabilities, we do offer a narrated tour of the Mount Washington Cog Railway, a script of the narration in large print, and a separate downloadable version of the tour available here. Please visit the Ticket Office for printed materials.
For guests with speech disabilities, all public facing Cog Railway employees are equipped with pen and paper in order to help communication. Our employees are also easily available and accessible for guests to talk to and communicate with. Please visit the Ticket Office for printed materials.
Guests with service animals are welcomed and invited to ride the Mount Washington Cog Railway. While we allow service animals on the train, please use your best judgement when visiting us, as the sudden loud noises and elevated heights can have a effect on the animals.
