“a CRAZY race!”

On a summer Saturday each year, runners of all abilities gather at Marshfield Base Station to participate in a unique athletic event: a race over rugged, steep terrain in an attempt to beat one of our trains to the 6288’ summit of Mount Washington! For two years in a row (2022, 2023), former Olympian Joe Gray led the pack in the men’s Elite division, once even arriving at the finish line a full 3 minutes AHEAD of his cheering section aboard the race train! Elite women’s division winners Christin Doneski (2022) and Amber Ferreira (2023, 2024) were never far behind.

You won’t want to miss the excitement, either as a competitor or a spectator! Tickets are still available for the following race trains. All tickets include at least a one-hour layover at the summit, plenty of time to watch the action at the finish line!

• 8:00 departure: you’ll arrive at the summit with the finish line set-up team prior to the start of the race and will cheer on the Elite and Intermediate runners as you pass them on the return leg of the trip.

• 9:00 departure: you’ll leave the Base Station at the starting gun for the Elite Wave, and will keep pace with the lead runners. This is the train to beat!

• 9:15 departure: you’ll leave the Base Station at the starting gun for the Intermediate Wave.

• 9:30 departure: you’ll leave the Base Station at the starting gun for the Chill Wave.
